I am currently an associate professor in the Department of Biology at Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, KS. Prior to my current position I was a postdoctoral research associate in the Missouri Cooperative Fish and Wildlife Research Unit at the University of Missouri in Columbia during November 2014 to January 2015. Dr. Craig Paukert was my postdoctoral adviser. The objectives of my postdoctoral research were to synthesize the effects of climate change on inland fish and fisheries. Prior to my postdoctoral work I was a PhD student at Kansas State University in Manhattan, KS working under Dr. Keith Gido during 2010-2014. The objectives of my PhD Research were to describe the effects of wildfire on ecosystem properties of the upper Gila River of southwest New Mexico, and determine if native and nonnative fishes responded differently to wildfire disturbance (KSU Dissertation). I also completed my Master's work at Kansas State University under the advisement of Dr. Gido during 2008-2010. The focus of my Master's research was to examine the influence of ecosystem productivity on nonnative piscivore abundance in the upper Gila River of southwest New Mexico (Master's thesis). My interest in aquatic ecology was cultivated at Emporia State University in Emporia, KS, where I completed my Bachelor of Science degree during 2003-2007. Curriculum Vitae Josh Holloway
Josh is a Master's student at Pittsburg State University who began in January 2023. The objectives of his Master's project are are to evaluate spatiotemporal trends in density, richness, and occurrence of Spring River mussels in relation to known and emerging pollutants. Addressing these objectives will help determine if recent declines in mussel densities near the KS-MO border are widespread throughout the Spring River of Kansas, and will also try to determine if the declines are related to water quality (e.g., toxic metals; ammonia). This project is funded by the Wildlife Fee Fund from the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks. See the Research tab for further information on this project. Josh obtained his B.S. degree from Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, KS in the fall of 2020. |
